In the last 24 hours an inch of snow fell in the southern Madison Range and around West Yellowstone while everywhere else remained dry. Light winds from the south to southwest are blowing at 5-15 mph under mostly clear skies with temperatures near 20F. Today will be partly cloudy with mountain temperatures reaching the low 40s. No new snow is expected for the next few days.
Since yesterday morning snow squalls dropped 7 inches in the Bridger Range, 4-6 inches in the northern Madison and northern Gallatin Ranges and 1-2 inches further south to West Yellowstone and Cooke City. The storm has ended and at 5 a.m. temperatures are in the low teens under clearing skies. Gusts of 40 mph blew out of the W-SW early last night and have now calmed to 10 mph. Today will be mostly sunny but tonight clouds will build from a southwest flow and drop 1-2 inches around Cooke City.
Easter Sunday delivered a nice shot of snow to the mountains of southwest Montana. Over the past 24 hours the Bridger Range received 5-6 inches of new snow. The rest of the advisory area picked up 3-4 inches. At 4 a.m. it has stopped snowing and temperatures are in the upper teens to mid-20s F under cloudy skies. Winds are fairly light blowing 5-15 mph out of the W-SW with gusts around Big Sky blowing 20 mph. Today, temperatures will warm into the upper 20s to mid-30s F under cloudy skies and winds will continue to blow 10-20 mph out of the W-SW. A moist southwest flow will keep conditions unsettled and the mountains south of Bozeman could see 1-3 inches of new snow during the day. The Bridger Range could see a trace to one inch. Snow tapers off this evening and Tuesday looks like a nice day.
Overnight the Bridger Range picked up 2-3 inches of new snow. The rest of the advisory area picked up a trace to one inch. This morning mountain temperatures are in the upper teens to mid-20s F and winds are light out of the S-SE. Today, a moist southwest flow will keep conditions unsettled and the mountains could pick up an additional 1-2 inches by the end of the day. Temperatures will gradually warm into the upper 20s to mid-30s F and winds will remain light out S-SW. Unsettled weather will continue over the next 24 hours. The mountains could receive another 2-4 inches of snow tonight through tomorrow.
This morning temperatures were in the low 20s F. SW ridgetop winds were blowing 10-20 mph and gusting to 30 mph. A trough of low pressure off the coast of Washington will send moisture and cool temperatures to SW Montana through the weekend. Today clouds will move over the area and produce valley rain and mountain snow by late afternoon. Temperatures should reach the mid 30s F and winds should blow 15-30 mph from the SW. By tomorrow morning 1-2 inches of snow should fall.
Most areas got about one inch of snow yesterday. This morning temperatures were in the teens F with 10-15 mph westerly winds. A brief ridge will bring mostly sunny skies today before an unsettled weather pattern with moisture and cold temperatures arrives this weekend. Today high temperatures will be near freezing and winds will blow 5-15 mph from the W.
Winter came back but only delivered a trace to one inch of snow yesterday afternoon. This morning mountain temperatures were near 10 degrees F and winds were blowing 10-20 mph from the NW. Today should have clouds, a little sun, and a little snow with temperatures in the high teens to low 20s F. Winds should decrease a little today. We should only get about an inch of snow by tomorrow morning.
Who would’ve thought it snowed 16 inches last night?! Well, no one. It’s April Fools. But five inches at Bridger Bowl and Big Sky? Now that’s real. Everywhere else got two to three inches of new snow except West Yellowstone which got missed.
It started snowing at midnight as temperatures dropped into the upper teens and winds spiked to 60 mph out of the west. Speeds have calmed substantially and are now averaging 10-20mph with gusts of 35. Today will become partly cloudy with scattered snow showers dropping another inch by morning. Mountain temperatures will remain cool and only reach the low 30s as winds remain westerly at 10-25 mph.
It did not freeze in the mountains last night and temperatures are in the upper 30s to low 40s. Skies are partly cloudy with ridgetop winds from the southwest averaging 10-15 mph with gusts to 25 mph. Today will be warm and mostly sunny with temperatures getting to 50F before a cold front arrives this evening. Ahead of the front, winds will increase and rain will fall before tuning to snow with temperatures dropping into the high teens. By morning I expect 2-3 inches of snow.
At 4 a.m. mountain temperatures are in the upper 20s to low 30s F and winds are blowing 10-20 mph out the west. Today, a building ridge of high pressure will produce mostly sunny skies and warm temps. Highs today will warm into the upper 40s to low 50s F and winds will remain light to moderate out of the west. High pressure will dominate the weather pattern over the next 24 hours, but a storm system is forecasted to impact the area Tuesday night into Wednesday bringing valley rain and mountain snow.
